A quick run down of how I'm using the Premium Content Platform and my feelings on the platform.

So, pretty much everyone knows about the Premium Content Platform by now. It's basically a new system that allows artists to sell content for points and get the profits either in cash or points. The intended purpose is to sell digital content such as stock images, brush packs, etc. I, however, have been using it mainly for taking commissions. How? Well I created a bunch of commission sheets for my basic "stock" commissions, ones that are very simple and don't require to much from the client aside from a basic reference photo/drawing. When a client wants to purchase a commission they simply pay for the download and send me a note or comment wi

  • I haven't drawn these two in way to long. I missed them. We've got Kala on the left and Nishit on the right.

I decided to do it in a new style I've been playing with and have grown fond of. Still working out the kinks with it though.

    Nishit, Kala (C) Me

I'd love some in depth critiques on this one guys! Especially on the over all style, since I'm still working on this newer one.

  • 08/02/12--22:48: Reorganized!

  • We've got subfolders!!!!! :la: :la: :la: :la: :la: :la: :la: :la: :la: :la:
Well. Okay. Premium members have sub folders in their galleries, but not in faves. (Apparently there's technical difficulties with adding them to faves. Has anyone noticed how many "technical difficulties" there is when it comes to adding things to faves? Searches, subfolders... poor faves seems to have a lot of technical difficulties.)
As soon as I heard about this I went and scrapped every folder in my gallery and started from scratch. I've got a brand new system and I love it. It's much cleaner and much better organized. The current layout of my folders is this:

  • 08/03/12--14:58: City of Bones Cast part 1
  • So I decided to sketch up the City of Bones cast but treat them like the costuming department will with contacts, hair dye, etc. It was really fun. Up until now I loved all the actors except for Jamie. He's a great actor, but I couldn't really see him as Jace. After sketching him up looking a little more Jace-ish though, I have to say I feel a lot better about him being cast. A lot of the changes were based on the way these guys have been drawn in the comic book previews we've seen, but others were just me having fun.

I'll do Izzy, Simon, Jocelyn and Luke next week.

So, what do you guys think of the cast so far? Love them? Hate them? Tell me!

  • 08/07/12--10:50: A little DA b-day fun
  • Yup...

A young woman named Elizabeth loved making art, and practiced sculpting all day long to become the very best in all her town. But one day, she was completely stumped. She looked around her room, full of art pieces featuring mystical brushes, sci-fi landscapes of a futuristic Glenwood Springs, and a portrait of Johnny Depp that looked so real, you could start a conversation with it. But nothing inspired her. Had she really created everything there was to create? Depressed, she looked out her window, and made a wish on a nearby clock for inspiration to return to her. The next morning, she sprung out of bed, and used her skill in sculpting to cr

I have run two premium membership giveaways in the past few months and my rules are always the same: Fave the article about the contest, you must not have a current membership, and you must give me a reason as to why you want the membership. In each contest the most common reason has been wanting to receive critique. This somewhat baffles me, because it's so easy to receive critique without the fancy platform. You don't need that to get critique, and trust me, it doesn't guarantee you're going to get it. I have a ton of my pieces critique enabled and I'm lucky to get one good critique every couple months. But despite that it is still the most

  • Finally finished this one! I started it awhile ago, but I've been super crazy busy and haven't been able to get back to it until a couple days ago. I still intend to do one of these for every member of the band though.
Over all I'm pretty happy with this one. The rust on his vest was really fun, as were his sleeve thingies. His drums were a pain though, and I' know I've probably screwed them up immensely. Still happy with them though! The hardest part of this was actually finding a quote. CC has so many strange quotes, but about 90% of them make zero sense unless you know the context (and about 50% of those don't make sense anyways. XD). I finally settled on this one from his Twitter account though.

I'd appreciate any feedback you can give me on this!

  • 08/10/12--16:21: Never Work For Faimly

  • People think it's bad being the tech savy one in the family. Try being the tech savy one AND the artist. Not fun.

A few months ago my Aunt bought a children's consignment shop. (Basically, a store that sells used kids clothes). She asked me to design a logo for her, but that she can't pay me since it's a new business. I was alright with this since she's a good person, and one of the few family members I can stand. I also figured it would be a pretty quick and simple project. Boy was I wrong. She sends me the logo the previous owner had which was literally a  crappy stick figure pot with stick figure flowers with smiley faces on them. It was

  • 08/20/12--13:27: Gonna be "gone" for awhile.

  • I start college next week, so things are going to be a little crazy for me for a bit. I'm going to finish up the commissions I've already started, then stop taking them for a bit. I'll really only be around to write articles for :devda-dictionary: when it's my turn to do so. If you guys really need to talk to me about anything, note me. I'll make sure to try and look at my notes every day.
I'll be back once everything settles down! It could be a few weeks though, given that my college has already proven themselves to be a little off when it comes to scheduling and I'll probably be in and out of their office a lot trying to get things settle
