Sorry for the double upload! Something got screwed up with the last one.

Anyways, this is a lineart I did for the Dean/Cas Color Exchange over on tumblr. It was super fun and I can't wait until they do another exchange.

You are more than welcome to color this, however there's a few rules:
1) Please leave my watermark on the picture.
2) You may post your colored version anywhere you like, but you MUST link back to the original lineart so that other people can find it and color it if they want to.
3) You must send me a link to where you posted the work if you do color it so I can see your beautiful art!

Press download for the full-sized lineart and have fun! :)

Vivian's House

The home of one of the characters in my new writing project "Masqued." There will probably be a lot more concepts of this place as a good chunk of one of the novels happens here. And because I'm in love with the place. That to. It is in the Colorado Rockies in roughly the same area as my family cabin and is in a state of sort of...intentional shambles.

This was my first serious attempt with prisma markers and while it isn't perfect I'm still pretty happy with it. There's a few bits of prisma colored pencils in there as well, but it's 98% marker. Recently my college store had a sale on Prisma Markers for $0.80 each and these things are normally $3.50 at my school store and up to $6.50 each at local craft stores so, needless to say, I bought a fucking crap ton of them (seriously, I carry them around in a suitcase because it's the only thing big enough) even though I'd never used markers before. So now I figure I probably SHOULD use them and thus I'll be using them a lot. If anyone has tips they'd like to share I'd love to hear them!

Also...trees. Specifically the leafy/needley parts of trees. ...I tried. I really did. I'm super happy with the trunks of the trees, but the leafy/needley parts? Not so much... I know the perspective is off a bit as well in a few areas, but I realized to late to really do anything about it. Next time!

Shae's outfits 1-9

More stuff for my new novel project "The Violet Veil" which is a part of my bigger project "Masqued." This time it is the first nine outfits worn by one of the main characters; Shae. I promise there is logic to the weird variety of styles and time periods she wears. And to the fact her hair is black in one drawing... Fashion is an important part of the world of the book, especially to Shae, so I'm going to be drawing every main outfit that she wears in the books. These nine encompass around the first 1/3 to maybe the first 1/2 of the first book depending how things work out. More will come later once I better plot out the rest of the first book and eventually the later books.

Also, sorry for the horrid anatomy. I'm still trying to get the hang of legs... and you know, a lot of other things. >.> I was more focused on the fashions themselves for this project though, so I'm not to bothered by it.

King of Thieves Illustration

An illustration for my review of "King of Thieves" by Jane Kindred. Holy hell is it a good book (and series for that matter). Fair warning before you go looking though, it does feature a gay BDSM relationship and quite often more than two people being...involved. ;) You can read the review here: katy-l-wood.tumblr.com/post/84…

Sadly this is not a scene from the book, as much as I might want it to be because...you know, uniforms and wings and shibari...all great things. It's still the main characters though, Belphagor (in the uniform) and Vasily (in the rope), so I figure it counts. Enough. Shh. >.>

Anywho, the uniform is based off of Russian military uniforms as the book is heavily Russian based and some parts take place in Russia. I didn't do a straight copy of the Russian uniforms though, for various reasons. I liked this cut of the uniform better but the colors of the uniforms with this cut didn't fit what I was going for. That and I'm pretty sure this ISN'T an airforce uniform despite the fact that he is wearing an airforce hat (which is a not so subtle call to the fact that he's an airspirit). The only good reference I could find for multiple types of uniforms was all in Russian, alright? And not only was it in Russian, it wasn't even Russian text, it was a picture of Russian text so I couldn't just have Chrome translate the page for me. I tried.

However, I'm pretty happy with how this turned out overall because it looks pretty much EXACTLY like I pictured it looking when I started, which as any artist will tell you is a fucking raritey. That shit doesn't happen. But it did and I'm very pleased about it. I think Bel's wings turned out really well to. I wasn't sure how to convey wings made of air, so I went through a few different ideas. I really like this one even if it doesn't quite convey "air" because, for some reason, if I always pictured the elemental wings in the book to look sort of like glass filled with the element of that spirit.

Also, do you know how much of a pain it is to DRAW shibari setups? Trying to make sure you have the same amount of rope going into the knot as you do coming out of the knot, making sure ropes doen't vanish when they go between different parts of the body or around them. It made my brain hurt.

This is the smuttiest thing I've ever posted here so...sorry if this shocks any of you. I do a lot of smut related stuff, actually, it's just that 90% of it can't end up here. But I'm so damn proud of this one I'm gonna toe the line a little. hehe.

Kith and Kin Character Height Chart

It's done! Been working on this for over two weeks now, off and on. These are the six main characters of my new novel project "The Violet Veil" the first novel of which is currently titled "Kith and Kin." In order we've got the actress, the mountain woman, the first grade teacher, the mountain man, the soldier, and the actor.

Fashion is a very important part of the world these characters live in, so what they're wearing really reflects who they are and I spent a lot of time on their outfits and each outfit went through a lot of revisions.

Also, I noticed something while researching clothing for Dustin. Trying to find good pictures of mountain men is like trying to find pictures of Bigfoot. I eventually gave up and pulled out some old westerns to watch for reference material. My dad would be so proud.

You'll be seeing a lot more of these six in the coming months! If you want to know more about the story, you can read about it here.

Time to complete: 4-5 hours each. Lots of revisions since this is my first time drawing any of these guys.

Kala

Kala and his albino parrot Ghost. Haven’t drawn this idiot in way to long so I decided to draw him as a quick break from comic pages and homework.

Kala is a ghost hunter and runs a paranormal talk show (Named “Searching For Strange”) out of Glenwood Springs Colorado. Half Russian, half Italian, and Asexual for all intents and purposes. His full name is Daren Michael Cook but he always goes by Kala, Kalaghata, or Mike. He’s got four other pets (not counting fish): a deaf black cat named Jack-O-Lantern (Jack for short), and three huskies two of which are each missing a leg and one who is blind. He’s trained the parrot to hand out candy on Halloween and talk on the radio show, and he’s got the huskies trained to pull his nieces and nephews in their sleds. Jack’s just an untrained idiot who may have a bit of brain damage as well, but Kala loves him.

Kala actually doesn’t go with any story in particular. He’s like my signature in my big projects. He shows up everywhere. If he’s in a story you know it’s mine.

City of Heavenly Fire

I could've sworn I uploaded this here...apparently not.

I suppose this at is a tiny bit spoilery, but no more than anything Cassandra Jean drew before the book even came out so I figure it’s okay. I never want to draw a character surrounded by fire again. Never. It made me want to chuck my tablet out the window. -dead- I mean, I discovered an awesome new method of painting fire which saved me a hell of a lot of time. But still. The lighting. THE LIGHTING. Never again
